Requesting an Intern

An essential part of the intern program are the meetings which provide the opportunity for hands-on ministry for the interns.  As meetings take part in this program, they also receive a chance to get a feel for the benefits and responsibilities that come with an additional part time staff person.  Below is a list of the responsibilities a meeting agrees to fulfill when they accept an intern.  The meeting agrees to...
  • positively support this ministry and effort of training our future leaders
  • provide additional assistance (chaperones, workers, nursery, etc.) to be present at any gathering in which they would be needed
  • help to arrange any transportation for special events requiring travel
  • purchase any materials (literature, music, supplies, etc.) necessary to carry out the ministry
  • offer a financial contribution to assist with the expenses of hiring and training an intern (due upon notification)*
  • provide housing arrangements for the intern if necessary

*This may not be expected from meetings if it is a hardship.

If your meeting is interested in requesting an intern, you may receive further information by contacting the North Carolina Yearly Meeting office at (336) 292-6957 or by email at ncfriends@ncym-fum.org.  If you are ready to request an intern, go ahead and print a copy of the Service Site Application (it's in Microsoft Word) to mail in to the office.
